About Amanda
Hey there,
I am passionate about supporting families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, breastfeeding and parenting journeys. Quickly after becoming pregnant with my first baby, I learned how important a support network is during this major life transition. There are so many questions that arise during pregnancy that can truly take you on a journey into remembering our body’s innate wisdom. It is both a humbling and empowering experience and it deserves to be honored as a rite of passage. It seems that we have forgotten that birth belongs to us, not anyone outside of us.
As I traveled through two pregnancies and two homebirths, I found myself diving deep into the birth world. It became obvious to me that we need to reclaim our power as women, to shift to a new paradigm of birth, weaving the sacredness of this experience with science. We need to get back to trust and intuition and to not give our birthing power away to those outside of us. There is a time and place for necessary intervention.
I believe in doing the work during pregnancy to open the doors to a more powerful birthing experience. To educate ourselves on what truly is informed consent, what is necessary, to dive into what our belief systems are around birth and how we got to this point. Women need to be nourished; mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually during their transition into motherhood and beyond for the sake of our future human beings. We need to all work to shift the culture around birth.
I am an Indie Birth Doula, completing a 4 month long intensive doula training. I completed the Indie Birth Mothering the Mother and Lifting the Veil: The Practicality and Mystery of Miscarriage programs as well. I’ve participated in multiple classes with Innate Traditions and have trained as a breastfeeding support person via Katie Demota at the Nest Family Resource Center. I also recently completed an Ayurveda Foundations class and will be completing an Ayurvedic Massage and Bliss therapies training this December.
I can’t wait to meet you and discuss how I can support your growing family! <3
